En este trabajo se trata de poner de manifiesto la importancia de la conocida como Oficina procautivos, creada en el Palacio Real de Madrid por el rey Alfonso XIII, durante la Gran Guerra. Una iniciativa particular, financiada por el mismo monarca y que será quien consiga poner en marcha los recursos diplomáticos y militares del Estado para intentar aliviar el sufrimiento de las familias y prisioneros de los beligerantes, que fue sin duda una iniciativa sin parangón en la época, y que tampoco se dio en otros conflictos ni anteriores ni posteriores, por lo cual el prestigio personal del Rey de España alcanzó en todo el mundo unos niveles nunca superados, como se vio en los años siguientes al conflicto y hasta el momento de su muerte. In this work it is to highlight the importance of the so-called procautivos Office, created in the Royal Palace of Madrid by King Alfonso XIII, during the Great War. A particular initiative, financed by the same monarch and who will be able to start up the diplomatic and military resources of the State to try to alleviate the suffering of the families and prisoners of the belligerents, which was undoubtedly an initiative unparalleled at the time, and that it did not happen in other conflicts either before or after, for which reason the personal prestige of the King of Spain reached worldwide levels never surpassed, as it was seen in the years following the conflict and until the moment of his death. |
